![]() ![]() Trying to remember your stop time can be distracting during a study session. Setting a timer means (1) you'll have to keep your cellphone on and (2) you'll be artificially interrupted at exactly the 25 minute mark, possibly right in the middle of a thought. You're about to study for about 25 minutes. Take note of the time and at the top of your notes, write down the current time+25 minutes.If you prefer digital notes, that's fine, just do something similar like a two-column layout in Word. Divide a piece of paper into two columns, 1/3 on the left and 2/3 on the right. ![]() Turns out my mind could shift into a less distracted state if I knew the phones were completely off. The first time I did this for a study session, it felt very weird, but I was much more focused-and less stressed-with the cellphones completely off. If I'm waiting on a conversation, I'll tell my friends that I'm heading into a study session and won't be available for a little bit. I don't just minimize them I close them completely.
